International Paper (IP) abandons the acquisition of SKG
After two successive forcible takeover failures, the US International Paper announced that it would no longer offer a bid for the SKG (SmurfitKappaGroup) group.
In March 2018, the international paper industry, without omen, suddenly launched a bid for the SKG (SmurfitKappaGroup) group, but was rejected by SKG for two seconds in a row, and SKG considered the offer of the international paper industry to seriously underestimate the value of the company.
Although the offer is no longer proactive, international paper also announced that if the SKG group's board of directors offered to be bought, the international paper industry would also offer an offer for the acquisition.
IP and SKG are the 10 largest enterprises in the world, ranking first and eighth respectively. They are also the largest manufacturers of packaging paper and packaging in the world and Europe. If the two companies merge, the total annual revenue will exceed $30 billion, which will control the waste paper, packaging paper and paper packaging market in the main North America and Europe, and will have a far-reaching impact on the Chinese market.
